Ridiculously simple to prepare, incredibly tasty - though with pancakes, biscuits, cheese, ice cream, with all kinds of desserts.

Cooking
The products that we need. I took the brown sugar from small "Mistral", than sugar darker, the brown turns out the sauce.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add the sugar, cream, salt and mix well with a whisk.
Bring to a very gentle boil and cook for about five minutes, stirring from time to time.
Remove from heat and add vanilla. Try the sauce (without burning the tongue!), to see whether you want to add more salt or vanilla. Customize it to your taste, stirring after each addition.
You get a light brown sauce with a very loud, impressive butterscotch flavor. Serve cold or warm with vanilla ice cream, roasted pears or a slice of cake. The sauce will thicken when cooled. It can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container and be heated in a microwave oven.
