Irish stew
Decided to cook stew with beer and juniper berries, as they do in Ireland. It was very tasty! Only thing missing was a glass of Irish whiskey...

Ingredients

  • Beef

    700 г

  • Potatoes

    600 г

  • Onion

    3 шт

  • Carrots

    2 шт

  • Thyme

    1 ст. л.

  • Dark beer

    500 мл

  • Broth

    500 мл

  • Juniper

  • Bay leaf

    3 шт

  • Salt

  • Black pepper

  • Sunflower oil

    3 ст. л.

Cooking

Wash the meat, dry, cut into large cubes

Potatoes and carrots cut into slices, onion - half rings

In the iron cauldron or pot with a thick bottom pour vegetable oil and spread a layer of half the sliced meat. Lightly season with salt and pepper. Meat put half of the potatoes

On top lay half of the onion...

... and half the carrots

Again salt, pepper and flavoured with thyme

Then repeat layers. If you want you can add a little bell pepper, cut into strips, and garlic.

Add to the pan with the juniper berries, Bay leaf

Pour hot broth...

... and beer.

Bring to the boil, tightly cover with a lid, diminish the fire to the smallest. Simmer at least 1 hour. During the cooking, all the alcohol content evaporates and the stew becomes pleasant barley flavor
