Description
According to Orthodox tradition the "early bird" bake March 22 - day of memory of forty martyrs of Sebaste. It is believed that from this day spring finally comes into its own. In my family it is tradition to bake rolls in form of birds, baked yeast always. And today I decided to bake some Lenten cookies in the form of a "Lark", not less tasty.

Cooking
In 1/3 Cup of boiling water, I dissolved the honey, salt and sunflower oil, stir.
No need to wait when the water cools, gradually added a Cup of flour with the baking powder (flour can take more or less, so do not try immediately pour all the flour). Knead for 10-15 minutes. The batter should be like clay.
From the prepared dough is rolled up sausage (thickness of your thumb). Cut it into not very large equal pieces (not melchite, need space to minimize the birdies in the nodules). I got 6 bundles.
Each flagellum made of a lark - just tied the knot and one end made the head, and the other is tapered like the tail and the knife did the feathers.
Put the eyes of halves raisins.
I got 6 birds. Who likes sweeter - a little spray birds with water on top and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a preheated 180 degrees oven until ready.
