Description

Delicious barley
Hello! This is my first time to cook. ru... so do not judge strictly))) This dish is very juicy, tender, vegetable stew. In our economically unstable times that is necessary - very easy to prepare + no hits on the wallet. Great as a side dish to pork or beef, and at the same time can be an independent dish. Help yourself!

Ingredients

  • Pearl barley

    400 g

  • Cabbage

    0.5 kg

  • Potatoes

    5 piece

  • Carrots

    1 piece

  • Onion

    1 piece

  • Salt

  • Black pepper

  • Vegetable oil

Cooking

step-0
Rinse the barley with cold water and leave to swell overnight. Once you are ready to cooking - put the cereal on fire. If you soaked the grits, its manufacturing will leave about 30 minutes, if not, it will have to languish a couple of hours.
step-1
Shred the cabbage, add the vegetable oil and lightly fry. Then, add a small amount of water and simmer on a low heat for 15 minutes.
step-2
Cut the potatoes in small cubes and add it to the cabbage.
step-3
RUB the carrots on a coarse grater or cut into small strips. Add it to the cabbage with potatoes.
step-4
Finely chop the onion and add it to cauldron. At this stage you can add salt, pepper and your favorite spices (I prefer a small amount of ginger and nutmeg). Advise not to add too fragrant herbs - you will kill the already pleasant smell of the meals.
step-5
Meanwhile, our grits should be ready. Merge it with the remaining water and put in the cauldron. All are thoroughly mixed and warmed on a slow fire for another 15-20 minutes.
step-6
Basically, it's everything! You can immediately enjoy the dish, but rather tightly cover the cauldron with a lid... and wait three hours - then heat and get it!
step-7
BON APPETIT!!!
