In the day when I was about to make from "the Godfather" in our house was a holiday. This meant that my husband and I will watch all 3 parts of one of his favorite movies and choose a recipe. Looked a long time, with interruptions, almost the whole day and eventually settled on the recipe for "Gnocchi" from the 3rd part of "the Godfather." Why? All just, in my opinion, the first 2 part of the movie's more about gangster dismantlings, business, and revenge. The third part shows another Michael Corleone is the person with legitimate business, who thinks about the soul, about the future, about old age, but primarily he's thinking about his children and family. In the beginning of the film he pronounces the sacramental phrase: "the Only value on earth is children. More than money or power." And, in my opinion, it absolutely reveals the depth of the nature of the new don Corleone. The history of these gnocchi is truly beautiful and tragic at the same time: Michael Corleone's daughter Mary is in love with her cousin Vinnie, they both know that their love is doomed, but can't live without each other. They meet in secret, and during one of the meetings Vinnie prepares gnocchi - hot, like the passion of young lovers... I can Not mention another important fact in favor of this film, don Michael Corleone plays a brilliant, incomparable, deep, harakterny actor - al Pacino. Potatoes cleaned, cut in half and cook in a double boiler about 25 minutes. This method of cooking potatoes will help to avoid the saturation of the potatoes of excess moisture. If You don't have a steamer, you can bake potatoes in the oven until soft (about 30 minutes at 200 degrees, cover potatoes with foil).
Prepared potatoes to grate on a coarse grater in a high bowl.

This recipe is so captivated me that I've made it several times because it is filled with such tenderness and sensual passion, which, frankly, I like to create with their hands! Maybe "the Godfather" and is considered a masculine film, but, in my opinion, it reveals the themes of family, trust, loyalty so sharply and clearly that I just couldn't not share with You this recipe!
