Dzhezere
Variety of Turkish delight. The ancient Oriental sweet, enjoyed by the sultans.

Ingredients

  • Brown sugar

    1.5 cup

  • Carrots

    3 cup

  • Coconut shavings

    1 cup

  • Nuts

    1 cup

  • Corn starch

    0.5 cup

  • Lemon peel

    1 piece

  • Water

    1 Tbsp

Cooking

Grate the carrots on a fine grater.

Add 1 tbsp of water and simmer on low heat, covered, until the carrots become soft.

Add the sugar and continue to simmer,

While the carrots will provide the juice and the sugar has melted.

Gently introduce the starch and cook while stirring until the mixture thickens.

Add the zest and crushed nuts.

Stir and remove from heat.

The baking sheet slightly wetted with water, excess water is drained. The mixture is spread with a thickness of 2-3 cm Top to flatten and place in the fridge overnight.

Cut into slices and roll in coconut.
