Description
This Neapolitan pie with pasta in the original preparing with the test. In this recipe the role of a "test" play the tomatoes. Red color and shape of the cake resemble a Cardinal's hat, apparently hence such an unusual name "Timpano in cardinal". The cake turned out in the spring bright, juicy and incredibly delicious. A set of cheese can be varied according to your taste and their availability if you do not like Basil, substitute it with oregano. You can add chicken meat, boiled tongue, beef or pork, a perfect fit with the combination of the main products of olives or capers, in General, big space for imagination!

Cooking
It is best for the pie we will do the tomatoes thick consistency of the varieties San Marzano, they are somewhat very similar to our Cream.
Tomatoes cut in half and remove the seeds. Place in a colander for 15-20 minutes and drain off juice.
The pulp with seeds, punching in a blender to puree.
Sauce: a Clove of crush garlic and fry in 2 tbsp oil, remove, place in garlic oil tomato paste and pureed tomatoes, simmer about 30 minutes until all the liquid evaporates, season with salt and pepper, add a little chopped Basil.
Place tomatoes on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Brush with oil (2 tbsp), and sprinkle chopped Basil.
Mix the breadcrumbs with garlic powder and 1/2 tsp salt. Sprinkle them on the tomatoes. Bake in warmed up to 180"With the oven for 20-25 minutes. Be guided by your oven! Crackers should not darken. Cool.
Boil the pasta according to the instructions on the package.
Mix pasta with sauce and cheese, and only then as needed salt and pepper.
The bottom and sides of a high form (I have an old saucepan) 20 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height covered baking paper. To put on the sides of the form tomatoes cut inside, the bottom is cut up.
Fill with stuffed pasta. And then build on the sides of the second row of tomatoes.
Build the rest of the stuffed pasta on top and cover baked tomatoes cut down. Bake in warmed up to 180"With the oven for 25-30 minutes. Be guided by your oven!
Ready pie to cool for 30 minutes and flip it onto a plate. Serve warm garnished with Basil leaves.
