Mashed potatoes
A variation on the mashed potatoes. And again I'm here with recipes of German grandmothers, or rather, great - grandmothers (as the author of the recipe, girl with German culinary forum) :) Such an unusual name (orig. Himmel und Erde), but the explanation he simple: the earth symbolizes the potatoes, and the sky - high growing apples. Now guess what will be discussed? That's right, mashed potatoes with Apple :)

Ingredients

  • Bacon

    120 g

  • Butter

    40 g

  • Sour cream

    1 Tbsp

  • Sugar

    1 tsp

  • Lemon juice

    1 tsp

Peel potatoes and put on to cook (I did not photograph the pot with the potatoes, better to take a picture of the onion :) ). Need to boil in salted water until fully cooked, so it does stretch. I have it takes about 20 minutes from boiling water. Meanwhile, peel the onion and cut it into half rings toovercome.

In this water we put... Yes, peeled and cored, sliced apples! :) Because the water is already hot (the potatoes were merged), boil it very quickly. From the moment of boiling cook for 5 minutes. P. S. Potatoes, meanwhile, continues to boil.

Merge apples with water. I have wet paper towel to avoid excess fluid. Now again heat the pan, put a little butter and fry the apples until Golden color (not to brown, until Golden and rather). Perversion, yeah? :) First boiled, fry now :) But I tell you, this is it!

When the potatoes cook until ready, drain it with water (part of water drain into the Cup - more useful). Add to the same fried apples and begin to pound :) I Have tolkushkoy no, I had a fork : ( you Can, of course, and with the help of a blender, but I so don't like... Apples, by the way, very well be! Then add the remains of butter, a few tablespoons of water from the potatoes and a spoonful of sour cream (full, "slide", as they say). As I said, German cuisine, sometimes dieticheskie is no different :) a good Mix? Well, there's the finish.

Don't forgot about the onions with the bacon? Now, spread the sauce generously on top and decorate with zazharkoy. For some it's already a complete dish, and we have sausage boiled :) My impressions of the recipe: delicious, unusual, gentle. Cream and butter gives the potatoes a creamy flavor and the Apple fits perfectly (I never would have thought). By the way, there is nothing surprising in this combination for the Germans there. Here, for example, is customary to eat potato pancakes with Apple mousse (I've never eaten, but my boyfriend said only so-so pancakes and is) :)
