The downside of barley is that its preparation takes much time and therefore many Housewives neglect this wonderful cereal. But there is a solution! I want to offer You with a quick way of cooking pearl barley in the pressure cooker, while it does not lose its beneficial properties, it turns crumbly and flavorful!

Ingredients

  • Pearl barley

    1 cup

  • Carrots

    1 piece

  • Red onion

    1 piece

  • Pepper

    50 g

  • Turmeric

    0.5 tsp

  • Water

    2 cup

  • Salt

    1 tsp

  • Garlic

    1 tooth

  • Bay leaf

    1 piece

Cooking

Barley preferably pre-soak for 2-3 hours to give the water extra starch and get loose;

After two or three hours, barley, thoroughly washed, and put into a pressure cooker + two cups of water, turmeric, salt and Bay leaf. Bring to a boil with the lid on and cook under pressure 15 minutes. After that remove the pot-the pressure cooker from heat and allow to stand for a few minutes (extra time of cooking may vary depending on the varieties of cereals, and the desired doneness). Then reset the pressure.
