Description
The literal translation of the name "Croute au fromage" - "crust with cheese". The role of the crust in this case is performed by soft white bread, fried in butter and soaked in Kirsch. This Swiss dish is extremely popular in the small Alpine towns of the French part of the country. Of all the possible ways of preparing this — the most classic and without "bells and whistles". A native of the Canton of Valais.

Cooking
Cut the bread into slices thickness of 1-2 cm and a length of a finger. In frying pan melt butter and fry bread until Golden brown.
Spread the bread in a fireproof dish (clay or cast iron) and gently wetted with Kirsch or white wine.
Put a few thin slices of ham. Nothing salt!
Fall asleep with a thick layer of grated cheese and put in a preheated 250 degree oven.
After about 10 minutes, when the cheese is melted and lightly browned on top, take out.
Season to taste black pepper or paprika. As a complement perfect pickles and onion.
Bon appetit! PS Careful, it's hot and delicious! Take care of the language and the waist.
