Description
In Russia, turnips deserve respect even in pre-Christian times. Turnip can fry, float, boil, braise, bake and eat raw. Steamed turnips after baking the bread, put the pot into a hot oven and left there without adding wood. What could be a piece of cake? Just... a clay whistle! In Russia many centuries ago, the whistle was playing, ritual and magical tool: the drought was caused by the rain in bad weather — the heat and rays of the sun. Tin whistle in the shape of a bird symbolized the people's idea of happiness. As without simple whistles would be orphaned Russian folk music, and without turnips culinary range of tastes of Russian cuisine would lose an important note. Although the question "what could be a piece of cake?" I have another answer, turnips, steamed in the sleeve for baking. Let's try!

Cooking
Choose a nice flat turnips. Wash.
Peel, cut into thin slices. Turn the oven on 160-180 degrees.
Put in a crock pot, season with salt, add a few tablespoons of water. Water have quite a bit to the turnip turned out it was steamed and not boiled.
Or to arrive even easier - put the sliced turnips in a sleeve for baking, add salt, add a few tablespoons of water.
In the sleeve for baking, make a small incision (for the excess steam).
Place the pot or sleeve for baking on the baking sheet. Put in the oven for an hour and a half. I decided to try it, is there any difference in these ways of cooking, so half a turnip put in a pot, half in the sleeve. And I must say - no difference!
Ready to spread the turnips out of the pot or sleeve. Season with oil. You can optionally add garlic, onion, greens, mustard. You can put the turnip slices on the bread, you get a vegetable sandwich. And I really liked steamed turnips with sour cream. Sweet tooth are encouraged to have turnips with honey or jam.
