Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Reheat in a saucepan or deep frying pan oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped red onion (or plain onion) and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add chopped garlic and fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cook until thick, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
