Grandpa's dinner
... or, as he calls this dish my husband, a quick pilaf. I saw this recipe in cooking paper a few years ago and since then he has entered into our menu. Really helps when running out of time and need to cook something hearty.

Ingredients

    2 cup

  • Carrots

    2 piece

  • Onion

    2 piece

  • Sausage

    2 piece

  • Vegetable oil

    2 Tbsp

In fact, the dish is only rice and vegetables. Meat, sausage, or stew can be put if you want, then get even tastier and more satisfying.

Finely chop the onion and put in a preheated with oil pan. Fry until transparent.

Carrots cut into strips or grate on a coarse grater and add to the onions. All together fry until soft carrots.

If you cook without meat, this step can skip. If stray piece of chicken fillet, and you decide to use it, then at this stage it is necessary to cut into small cubes, add to the vegetables and fry everything together.

Add well-washed rice.

Good to mix it with vegetables for a minute so the rice could soak up the oil.

Pour 2 cups of boiling water.

Add salt and pepper to taste. Quickly bring to a boil, lower the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid and on low heat cook for 20 minutes. Then fire off and let stand for 5 minutes. Then it's easy to whisk the contents of saucepan with a fork and serve. For 5 minutes until cooked, you can add slices of sausage in 10 minutes - chopped stew. And here you have 4 options of a meal. Lean option with meat, sausages or corned beef. Bon appetit!
