Barley porridge with mushrooms
Quite simple and easy to prepare recipe, perfect for lent and beyond. Try and make sure that meatless meals can be delicious.

Ingredients

  • Water

    400 ml

  • Onion

    1 piece

  • Vegetable oil

    30 g

  • Mushrooms

    350 g

  • Pearl barley

    200 g

  • Black pepper

So, let's start cooking our meatless meals. Mushrooms wash, peel and cut into slices. Onion peel and cut into small cubes.

In a deep frying pan, heat the oil and add the onion, fry until Golden color. Then add the mushrooms and fry all together for about 10 minutes.

Now it is the turn of cereals. I used pearl barley "barley" TM "Mistral", for which I thank Larochka (Stall). Cereal pour into a fine sieve and rinse thoroughly several times.

Washed grits add the mushrooms, stir and cover with water or broth. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat and simmer under the lid until cooked cereals (until it becomes soft), if necessary adding water. The cooking time is 45-60 minutes. It took me about 50 minutes, I was tormented for a very small fire. At the end of cooking you can add Your favorite herbs. Porridge turns out very tasty, tender and crumbly. The same principle can be cooked rice, and buckwheat.
