1. Pour into dish of sugar and the sharp end of the egg to make a depression.

In a small saucepan boil together the sugar with the milk until the sugar is dissolved. As the syrup comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium and, stirring constantly, cook the lot for another 15-20 minutes, remove from heat, add food coloring. Add flavorings to your taste and color.

Red - I added the juice of beets, green from spinach, and the yellow lemon peel.
