Salamat,
For the contest "Journey to ancient recipes". Since the Buryats were a nomadic people and the main occupation was cattle, they have always been in prosperity, dairy and meat products. Salamat, made with sour cream and powdery masses from the dried roots of various edible plants, and later of flour, was not only casual, but festive and ceremonial dish on the table of the Buryat people. This dish, its recipe and cooking technique has survived to our days from the time of Genghis Khan. This dish can cook each: adult or child, man or woman. Every family Salamat prepare for different; somebody instead of water add milk and sour cream instead of the butter or buttermilk. And this method of cooking is used in our family.

Ingredients

  • Salt

  • Flour

    80 g

  • Sour cream

    1 cup

  • Water

    100 ml

Cooking

Boil the cream on low heat.

Gradually pour the flour slowly stirring (Salamat does not like sudden movements)

When the slurry starts to thicken, pour hot water.

Salamat will be ready when the edges appear Golden brown.

And this is me with the finished dish. It is usually served in bowls.
