Description

Sochivo
One of the main dishes, which were served on the Christmas table, was sochivo. Sochivo is brewed from wheat, peas, rice. Seasoned with nuts, poppy seeds, raisins, honey and spices. The grain, according to Slavic traditions, is a symbol of reviving life, and sweet spice promises the sweetness of the future blessed life. For the contest "new year tastes of the planet."

  • Raisins

    200 g

  • Nuts

    200 g

  • Sugar

    50 g

  • Cinnamon

    1 tsp

  • Powdered sugar

Raisins pour boiling water, for swelling. Wash rice, cover with cold water and bring to a boil.

Strain the rice in a sieve to drain the water. Rinse with cold water. Again, pour the rice with cold water (large quantity) and cook, not stirring, until tender. Drain the water, let the rice cool slightly.

Clean the walnuts (if using almonds pre-scald it with boiling water, then it is easier coming off the skin), grind in a coffee grinder or crushed. Mix the nuts with sugar.

Add a small amount of boiled water to obtain a paste. Mix nutty ground rice, add raisins.

Mix powdered sugar with cinnamon. Spread the oatmeal on a large plate, sprinkle the top with powdered sugar. Bon appetit.
