Potato Babka in Russian
The dish is borrowed by me from the magazine "ABOUT the Kitchen", quite easy to prepare and so delicious, just great. The special taste of the "grandmother" gives the cumin. Try it and you will love it

Ingredients

  • Pork

    700 g

  • Potatoes

    1.5 kg

  • Onion

    4 piece

  • Cumin

    2 Tbsp

  • Sugar

    1 Tbsp

  • Spices

  • Bacon

Pork cut into slices and fry with half of the onion in vegetable oil until Golden brown, add sugar, stir, season with salt and pepper

The second half of the onion cut into half rings (or quartered, if large onions) and fry in lard until Golden brown. The original recipe used vegetable oil, but I decided to experiment, much.

Potatoes peel and RUB on a small grater, to wring out the liquid. Add salt, cumin and fried onions. Mix well.

A roaster oil (original recipe in a roaster had to pour part of the bacon fat from the meat, but I didn't have one), put half of the potato mass, add the fried meat, to cover the second part of the potato mass. Flatten with a spoon and put in a preheated 180-200 deg. the oven for 1 hour.
