Christmas pretzels
For the contest "new year tastes of the planet." 6th January Catholic countries celebrate the Holy Epiphany (Theophany). In Spain it is celebrated as the Day of the Magi ("Reyes Magos"), which culminate in Christmas and new year holidays. The day before, in all cities of the country by evening, we passed a colorful procession in chariots. They the actors playing the roles of the three wise men Caspar, Balthasar and Melchior, who, according to the Bible, brought gifts to the newly born in Bethlehem, Jesus Christ, amuse children, treat them with candies, which cast the chariots. The Day of the Magi begins with the fact that children receive gifts. As expected, the guys pre-write letters to the Magi with their requests. The evening of the same day the Spaniards some sort of "snack of the Magi", where the main treat are the pretzels.

Ingredients

  • Flour

    360 g

  • Margarine

    50 g

  • Wine white sweet

    70 ml

  • Powdered sugar

    100 g

  • Sesame

    2 tsp

  • Olive oil

    5 Tbsp

  • Liqueur

    1 Tbsp

Cooking

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Pour into a metal dish of olive oil, add the sesame seeds, keep on slow fire until the aroma of sesame, not to allow the oil to boil.

Sift the flour and combine with margarine.

Add the powdered sugar.

Pour the wine and anise liqueur, or replace it with a spice - anise.

Gradually add to the weight of the olive oil with sesame seeds, knead until smooth.

From dough to form balls the size of a walnut, roll into a bundle, connecting the ends.

Put on a baking sheet, greased. Bake for about 15 minutes or until the pretzels are covered with a crust, while the inside will remain soft. It is important not to overdo it when it gets cold, should be crispy, but not dry.

Ready to get pretzels from the oven and immediately roll in powdered sugar.
