Lenten cake with NAPA cabbage
Offer to make a cake with a delicious filling of Chinese cabbage, walnuts and oatmeal. And thanks to the tomato paste, the dough for the pie turns a beautiful orange. This pie will be a great decoration for a Lenten table. For the recipe sincerely thank Yulia Yulia-zefirka.

Ingredients

  • Tomato paste

    1 Tbsp

  • Water

    125 ml

  • Salt

    1 pinch

  • Sugar

    1 tsp

  • Turmeric

    0.5 tsp

  • Vegetable oil

    70 ml

  • Leavening agent

    1 tsp

  • Flour

    2 cup

  • Cabbage

    600 g

  • Walnuts

    0.5 cup

  • Soy sauce

    2 Tbsp

  • Coriander

    0.5 tsp

  • Seasoning

    0.5 tsp

  • Salt

  • Black pepper

  • Oat flakes

    4 Tbsp

  • Vegetable oil

    2 Tbsp

In a measuring jug add the tomato paste, pour boiled water to a volume of 125 ml instead of tomato paste and water to take tomato juice of good quality, as this will depend on the color test. Add salt, sugar, turmeric and mix well.

Add the vegetable oil. Mix well.

Pour the flour with the baking powder and knead the dough. I use an electric mixer with attachments for kneading, which is very convenient and fast. If the dough is very sticky, add another 1-2 tbsp of flour.

The finished dough cover with cling film or towel and let rest for 30 minutes. In the meantime, prepare the filling.

Cabbage finely chop. In skillet, heat vegetable oil and put the cabbage. Fry on medium heat for 5-10 minutes. If you want you can add finely chopped onions.

Pour soy sauce, add coriander, Italian herbs and pepper. Mix well, saute for a few minutes. Cabbage put in a bowl and cool.

Walnuts fry on a dry pan to release the oils, stirring constantly. Pour into a blender and grind in a large crumb. In the absence of a blender to chop nuts with a knife.

To the cooled cabbage add the walnuts and oat flakes of fast preparation. Mix well. If necessary, add salt. The stuffing is ready.

Detachable form grease lightly. Roll the dough into a circle with a diameter 5 cm larger than the diameter of the form (I have a form in diameter 28 cm). Put the dough in shape, forming the sides. On the dough put the stuffing.

The dough on the edges to put on the toppings. I have some dough that I roll in a circle molds for cookies cut out hearts and decorated the cake. Bake at 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
