Puff pastry with currants and cream cheese
My favourite Danish pastry! The pleasant texture of the crispy dough, mouth-watering curd tart with berries. Stunned how delicious!!!

Ingredients

  • The dough is flaky unleavened

    500 g

  • Chicken egg

    1 piece

  • Sugar

    1 Tbsp

  • Cream cheese

    150 g

  • Sugar

    0.25 cup

  • Vanilla essence

    0.5 tsp

  • Cream

    1 Tbsp

  • Black currants

    100 g

  • Powdered sugar

    1 cup

  • Water

    2 Tbsp

  • Essence

    0.25 tsp

Cooking

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Mix cream cheese with sugar Mistral with a mixer.

Add the cream and vanilla and stir until smooth. Set aside.

Currants washed and dried with paper towel

Ready puff pastry cut into 16 rectangles or squares. With a sharp knife cut the dough on each square, but not completely, the inner rectangle as shown in the photo. Put 1 or 2 teaspoons of the filling onto the center of each square of puff pastry. Place currant berries, slightly pushing them into the filling. I put 3-4 berries. Be guided by your taste.

In a small bowl whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon water and apply on the sides of the square where there is no filling. Sprinkle greased the edges with sugar. Bake for 13-14 minutes or until Golden brown.. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely before applying frosting

FOR the GLAZE IN a medium bowl, whisk powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of water. Add almond extract and mix. Apply the icing on a Danish. Enjoy delicious pastries!!!
