According to the Gregorian Church calendar on this day the Archangel Gabriel came to Mary with news that she will become mother. A child conceived today will be born on Christmas. Hence this day is Blagovest - the Annunciation of the blessed virgin. On this day, give flowers and smiles, showing love and respect. And this is just a bit of what we owe to the dearest person — mother.
