Barley with vegetables
Undeservedly forgotten, but in Russia valued barley porridge. "Pearl" is a gem, what it says... Hearty and perfect for a Lenten table.

Ingredients

  • Pearl barley

    120 g

  • Onion

    1 piece

  • Carrots

    1 piece

  • Potatoes

    2 piece

  • Broccoli

    100 g

  • Beans

    50 g

  • Garlic

    6 tooth

  • Curry

    1 tsp

  • Salt

  • Water

    500 ml

  • Vegetable oil

    2 Tbsp

Cooking

The cereal soak in the evening to swollen.

Fry in butter finely chopped onion for 1-2 minutes. Then add finely chopped garlic and curry powder, mix well. 1 inuto add the pearl barley (without liquid for soaking), sliced carrots and diced potatoes. Pour water, cover and cook at a gentle simmer for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, add the broccoli and green beans (I thawed), salt to taste. And cook another 8-10 minutes.
