Chicken in Apple sauce with croutons
Tender chicken perfectly combined with a sweet spicy sauce made from apples and crunchy croutons!

Ingredients

  • Chicken thigh

    4 piece

  • Apple

    3 piece

  • Water

    0.5 cup

  • Sugar

    0.5 cup

  • Cinnamon

    0.5 tsp

  • Nutmeg

    0.25 tsp

  • Potato starch

    1 Tbsp

  • Onion

    2 piece

  • Butter

    3 Tbsp

  • Bread

    8 slice

  • Thyme

    0.5 tsp

  • Black pepper

    0.25 tsp

  • Salt

    0.5 tsp

Cooking

Below the chicken was not hard, boil it in salted water for 15-20 minutes and leave the soup "on demand". I usually add in the water a couple of peas allspice and cloves. But it's not necessary.

Apples are cleaned from the core and peel and cut into thin slices.

Combine in saucepan, combine water, apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and cook until soft apples.

Added dissolved in 25 ml. of water starch and cook for another minute until thick. You should get a thick transparent sauce.

Finely chop the onion and fry until transparent in butter.

Slices of white bread cut into cubes (1-1,5 mm) added to the onions and stir.

Then put in a deep bowl and add the thyme, pepper and salt. All mix well.

In a ovenproof form, greased with vegetable oil, lay chicken thighs (or Breasts). On top of each slice put 1 spoonful of Apple sauce.

Sprinkle the onion-bread mixture.

Spread on top the remaining sauce.

Bake in the oven at 180 deg. 30 minutes or until bread turn into crispy crackers. Serve with your favourite side dish. Bon appetit!
