Description

Swedish pea soup
Very hearty, flavorful and delicious pea soup. Traditionally it was brewed in Sweden on Thursdays.

Ingredients

  • Peas

    1.5 cup

  • Water

    1.5 l

  • Brisket

    200 g

  • Carrots

    1 piece

  • Onion

    1 piece

  • Mustard

  • Black pepper

    3 piece

  • Marjoram

    1 tsp

  • Thyme

    0.5 tsp

  • Carnation

    2 piece

  • Salt

  • Potatoes

    2 piece

Cooking

Peas-washed and soaked for several hours, preferably overnight. Then drain off water and add new, cook about 1 hour.

After one hour, add the bacon or ham (in my case smoked chicken), pepper, marjoram, thyme and cloves.

The potatoes (add as desired. In the original it is not, but sometimes I add), carrots and onions cleaned. Carrot grate, onion and potatoes, chop and add to the pot. Cook the soup for another hour, periodically removing the foam.

Ready soup poured on plates, each adding pieces of meat and mustard.
